Callejea: multi-activity workshop in February
Callejea is an event promoted by the Department of Citizen Participation in collaboration with the Departments of Tourism and Festivals, Trade, Industry and Innovation and Youth that will take place on January 18 in the “Barrio Viejo”. The fundamental objectives of this event is to give visibility to the different associations that have their headquarters in our municipality and that all the people of Alhaurín enjoy the different proposals and activities that the groups of Alhaurín de La Torre work and/or offer during the year. Moreover, this space has been chosen because it is a nexus of union and origin of all the alhaurinos.
After the success of the first edition of Callejea, the Department of Citizen Participation with the collaboration of the areas of Tourism and Festivals, Youth and Trade, Innovation and Industry, again make a commitment to give visibility to the associations of Alhaurín de la Torre in the Day of Citizen Participation on 18 January 2020.
As in the previous edition, this event will take place in the Old Town, with four stages spread around the old town of our town. The mayor, Joaquín Villanova, together with the councillors for Citizen Participation and Tourism and Festivals, Manuel López and Andrés García respectively, presented the event and called on all residents and visitors to come and enjoy this day full of shows, music, dance and exhibitions; a perfect prelude to the San Sebastian celebrations (19th and 20th January).
PLAZA DEL CONDE
The stage of the Plaza El Conde will have an exclusive program for children. From 11 a.m. the youth associations Eo, Eo and Youth Correspondents will be giving workshops on balloon-flying, children’s make-up, parachuting, slime, ‘pyssla’, popcorn and origami. In addition, in this same space you can enjoy the show ‘Sueños de Circo’ (Circus Dreams), a battle of the cocks, a toy library service and a few surprises that will be revealed in the coming days.
PLAZA DE LA CONCEPCIÓN
Already on the stage of the Plaza de la Concepción most of the associations will perform. From 11 am onwards, the Water Shamrock Choir, the Solera Cultural Association, the Cultural Forum Raíces y Horizontes, the Martín Fierro Argentine Association, the Retamar Activa Association, the Mayor’s Area of Alhaurín de la Torre, the Kids Band and two singing students from the EMMDAT (Municipal School of Music and Dance of Alhaurín de la Torre) will be on stage. As if this wasn’t enough, at the opening the attendees will be able to enjoy a flashmob.
SAN FRANCISCO SQUARE
The next stage to open will be in the Plaza San Francisco, with a very varied agenda and for all tastes that will begin around 13.30 with the local group Velacruz. New Jazz Combo will perform to liven up the meal, and several main courses in different styles have been programmed for the afternoon and evening: first the band Comando G will recall the classics of the 80s and 90s. Then it will be the turn of Mitad Doble, with a fresh and unbridled style to make everyone dance. Modermain will close the live music with his energetic rock, to give way to the final closing with the best national DJs according to the specialized magazine, Rockdelux: We Are Not Dj’s.
JOSÉ GONZÁLEZ VELASCO SQUARE
The main stage, located in the Plaza José González Velasco, will feature great flamenco artists like Rosario ‘La Tremendita’, Nina Alemania and the duo Manzanita and Lin Cortés. For its part, the CD Lauro will organise a 3X3 championship in Calle Cantarranas so that sport will not be lacking in this Callejea 2020 either. The Bikers Association of Alhaurin will make a small route through the municipality and its districts along with another surprise that we have prepared.
The event has had the collaboration of many associations and local groups that will take to expose the various activities carried out throughout the year with their corresponding ‘stands’ in Malaga Street: Old Town Association, Regional House of Ceuta, AYFEM, Spanish Association Against Cancer, The Smile of a Child, Christian Charity Association, Women for Joy, AMAT, Victoria Kent, Coprodeli. Finally, there will be an exhibition ‘graffiti’ by the artist Victor Garcia Alhaurino.
We are waiting for you!
